Ideal for mature students who want to be in the historic capital city of Valletta.
Not ideal for students who a looking to party and have fun.

The good

  • This is the only school in the capital city of Valletta.

The bad

  • There are many smaller classrooms.

Date of my inspection visit at Easy School of Languages Malta: June 18, 2024.

My overall take

Easy School of Languages Malta (Easy School) is nestled in the historic city centre of Valletta; this school offers a unique blend of quality education and rich cultural experiences. This place is considered a UNESCO heritage site, and students interested in Maltese history would enjoy being based in Valletta.

Easy School prides itself on its strong teacher training program, training around 400 teachers annually on various methodologies. This dedication to high standards is reflected through their communicative approach to teaching. The main focus in lessons is on conversation and speaking, integrating grammar and other skills seamlessly through vocal interaction. Class trips are a highlight of their lessons, and they incorporate cultural visits that make the most of Valletta’s open-air museum feel. Exploring the main sights on foot and making learning English feel dynamic and immersive.

As mentioned, this school attracts a more serious and mature clientele. These people want to improve their English quickly, which is their main priority. The students who attend here want to enjoy Malta’s culture and history and are not just here for the party.

My tour of the school & video review

Easy School of Languages Malta Review

Student voices

Unfiltered comments from random students I met at the school and asked about their experience.

There are a variety of students and ages, and you can learn not only English but also so many different cultures; it’s very stimulating for me.

Questions to school director

Excerpts below from my conversation with Adrian Webb, Director of Studies at Easy School of Languages Malta.

Me: “What sets your school apart from others in the city?

School: “We are situated in the capital, Valletta, the only language school here. Our premises are also what you call a “House of Character”, a historic building. So it’s a traditional Maltese house from the 16th/17th century.”

Me: “Is there a particular type of student for whom your school is especially suitable?

School: “We attract an older clientele. The average age is around 40, so basically, it attracts the older, more serious student.

School inspection report

Classrooms

Some classrooms are smaller than others, but they all have a rustic, modern feel to them. They are also all fitted with interactive whiteboards.

Facilities

A bright and airy student lounge on the top floor has several vending machines and TVs. There is also a rooftop terrace overlooking beautiful views of Valletta.

Surrounding area

The location itself is stunning, with traditional Maltese buildings and a deep sense of history all around. Being in a UNESCO heritage site means the school is surrounded by culture, and places like St. John’s Co-Cathedral, with its famous Caravaggio paintings, are just a short walk away.

Social activities

Although this school doesn’t focus on partying, they do have many mixers and meetup events for students to socialise.

Residence

Although the school is in Valletta, the primary residence is in Sliema, which is approximately a 20-30-minute bus journey. The residence is very modern and has a hotel feel, but it also has a high-tech and clean shared kitchen and lounge/seating area.

Why no Google or Facebook ratings? Schools may have requested Facebook, Google or Trustpilot reviews only from those students that previously gave positive after-course evaluations. I only trust ratings from independent booking platforms/agencies, that allow exclusively clients who booked via their platform to rate the schools. I have checked each of these sites above and they have no disproportional number of positive vs negative reviews.
