Easy French Montpellier – Candid Review & Inspection Report

Ideal for students who want an affordable school with access to great perks.
Not ideal for students who are looking for a wide variety of courses.

The good

  • Affordable tuition price.
  • Great range of activities.
  • Great location (4 minutes from Place de la Comédie).

The bad

  • Old and dated classrooms.

Date of my inspection visit at Easy French Montpellier: May 22, 2024

My overall take

Easy French Montpellier is in the heart of Montpellier, a 4-minute walk from Place de la Comédie and within walking distance of the city’s main tourist attractions i.e. Promenade du Peyrou, Aqueduc Saint-Clément, Cathédrale Saint-Pierre and many more.

Easy French, is under the school ILA and is just as well accredited, even though the cost of tuition is slightly lower than ILA and other schools in Montpellier, they still have a high level quality of teaching. Identically to ILA, students can access downloadable online resources. The teachers still use authentic materials accessed via the TVs in each classroom and don’t use textbooks unless the students are on the DELF/DALF exam preparation course.

The main difference between the two schools is Easy French has a higher class capacity, at 14 students; so speaking in class would be a little more difficult due to the class size. However, Easy French students are encouraged to take part in the free extracurricular academic workshops and social activities.

This school, although it has a smaller course range and larger class size, is slightly more affordable than ILA but has all the social activity perks that ILA has to offer; therefore, if you are a student looking for a relatively basic course, this would be the ideal school for you.

Easy French Montpellier Review

Student voices

Unfortunately, there were no available students to interview at this school.

Questions to school director

Excerpts below from my conversation with Lucas Silvéréano, Senior Client Executive EN/ES of Easy French Montpellier.

Me: “What sets your school apart from others in the city?

School: “Easy French is like a local brand of ILA. It is part of the ILA school and programme; the main difference is the class size, which goes up to 14. The prices are a bit lower, so it’s very good for students with a small budget. In terms of academics, building, teachers and administrative personnel, we’re all the same.”

Me: “Is there a particular type of student for whom your school is especially suitable?

School: “Students with a lower budget would be interested in Easy French and also with a standard demands in terms of classes and courses.

School inspection report

Classrooms

There are only a few classrooms, all decorated similarly. The classroom sizes are smaller for the capacity size of 14 but still somewhat spacious. However, there are windows in every classroom, large tables, comfortable chairs and TV’s.

Facilities

This building has no dedicated lounge area, but students are welcome to use the small lounging areas and facilities in the ILA buildings, which are less than 5 minutes’ walk away.

Surrounding area

Easy French is a 4-minute walk from Place de la Comédie, where all of the al-fresco eateries are, as well as many other boutique shops. Students receive a discount at many of these establishments.

Social activities

There is a fantastic variety of fun activities, cultural excursions and academic workshops. There are also multiple options provided per day. These activities are available for both ILA students and Easy French students.

Why no Google or Facebook ratings? Schools may have requested Facebook, Google or Trustpilot reviews only from those students that previously gave positive after-course evaluations. I only trust ratings from independent booking platforms/agencies, that allow exclusively clients who booked via their platform to rate the schools. I have checked each of these sites above and they have no disproportional number of positive vs negative reviews.
