Ideal for students who prioritise convenience (accommodation, school, facilities are all in one complex)
Not ideal for students who want an ultramodern, upscale school.
The good
- There are various facilities at this complex.
- They are the only school in Malta that has Oxford quality teaching standards.
- They offer seven different accommodation options to suit a range of budgets.
The bad
- The facilities although plenty are a little outdated.
Date of my inspection visit at Clubclass English Language School Malta: June 17, 2024.
My overall take
Clubclass English Language School in Malta (Clubclass) is based at the back of a converted hotel complex. The school is in Swieqi but only a 15-minute walk from the busy San Giljan (St. Julian’s).
What immediately sets Clubclass apart is its unique campus feel. Unlike other schools that are spread out, Clubclass brings everything under one roof. The campus includes a gym, pool, restaurant, laundromat and more, which makes it feel like a small, vibrant community. This setup is perfect for fostering social interactions among students.
The quality of teaching at Clubclass is exceptional, living up to its Oxford quality standards. The teachers are not only highly qualified but also passionate about their work. The students get access to an online learning platform that they can use to do additional studies, which is active for 18 months from the beginning of their course.
Accommodation is another area where Clubclass excels. They offer seven different residences catering to various student budgets and preferences. Whether you’re looking for something more affordable or a bit more luxurious, there’s an option that fits your needs. The diverse living arrangements also mean students meet a wide range of students from different backgrounds.
Most students at this school are 18-35 (young adults). They are students looking for an actual student life experience, sharing their knowledge with other like-minded students, and building a community from that. That being said, they have a wide range of courses that attract many student profiles.

My tour of the school & video review
Student voices
Unfortunately, no students were available/willing to speak to me during this visit.
Questions to school director
Excerpts below from my conversation with Mariliana Debrincat, Sales and Marketing Manager at Clubclass Malta.
Me: “What sets your school apart from others in the city?“
School: “We are a residential campus with all of our facilities under one roof. So the students who study with us can benefit from free pool access and free fitness centre access. We also have a games room and library, and that’s not all; we have more.“
Me: “Is there a particular type of student for whom your school is especially suitable?
School: “Instead of choosing an age, I would say we have many programmes to choose from. So it’s not one option that fits all.“
School inspection report
Classrooms
The classrooms range is shapes and sizes, although they are a little outdated they all have air conditioning, and TVs or interactive whiteboards.
Facilities
The facilities in this complex include safe boxes, an ATM, 24/7 on site staff, fully equipped gym and sauna, pool and deck chairs, laundry room, games room, study room/library and a multi-purpose room.
Surrounding area
There are not many cafes or restaurants in the immediate area, but there is a school-owned cafe/restaurant/bar attached to the complex and a farm, St. Andrew’s Farm, just opposite the complex, where students can buy most of their essentials at a discounted rate. There is also a corner shop less than a minute’s walk away from the building.
Social activities

There is only a list of cultural tours on this activity programme. Many other schools offer these exact activities, so the social programme is not as diverse as at other schools.
Residence
I had the pleasure of seeing and staying in one of the Clubclass residences. I stayed in the superior apartment, St. Andrew’s Suites, a short walk from Clubclass. The apartment was spacious, with a balcony, a large kitchen/living area and large clean rooms. The only negative was that the air conditioning came on only for a few hours a day, and if you know Malta, you know it can be stifling hot. But the facilities range at all the different accommodations; or the apartments, the more superior the better and more modern the facilities.
The accommodations include hostel style living, shared apartments, and hotel style.

Ratings as of June 28, 2024
Why no Google or Facebook ratings? Schools may have requested Facebook, Google or Trustpilot reviews only from those students that previously gave positive after-course evaluations. I only trust ratings from independent booking platforms/agencies, that allow exclusively clients who booked via their platform to rate the schools. I have checked each of these sites above and they have no disproportional number of positive vs negative reviews.
